One mineral. Every system it touches
Magnesium is a cofactor in over 300 enzyme reactions. Here's what that means for each part of the body it reaches.
Magnesium oxide, the form in most cheap supplements, is poorly absorbed, and most of the dose passes through. Chelamax® bisglycinate is bound to glycine and absorbed intact. 275 mg, one evening dose, and nothing in the formula that sedates.
Training raises magnesium demand and sweat carries more of it out. Chelamax® bisglycinate stays chelated through the gut, where oxide largely does not, so more of the 275 mg is absorbed. One serving, taken in the evening, when recovery happens.
This one depends on how much magnesium arrives. L-threonate carries about 7% magnesium by weight. Oxide carries more but absorbs poorly. Chelamax® bisglycinate is chelated for absorption and dosed at 275 mg elemental per serving.
Magnesium supports normal nervous system function, and the form decides how much of it gets there. Oxide mostly passes through. Chelamax® bisglycinate is absorbed intact, at 275 mg with 2 mg of zinc, and nothing here is built to sedate.
Citrate and oxide are the forms behind magnesium's laxative reputation, because what is not absorbed stays in the gut. Chelamax® bisglycinate is absorbed intact. Three capsules, not four tablets, in one mouthful of water, once a day.
Front labels quote the compound. Panels quote the magnesium. L-threonate at 2,000 mg delivers 144 mg. Chelamax® bisglycinate here delivers 275 mg elemental, 65% of the Daily Value, with a Certificate of Analysis for every batch.

Timing. Evening, 30–60 minutes before bed. Magnesium supports the body's natural wind-down, so evening is both the convention in the research and the most practical time. Taking it earlier isn't a problem — magnesium works cumulatively.
Dose & ramp. Our serving is 3 capsules (275 mg elemental magnesium). For the first few nights, start with half a serving to let your body adjust, then build to the full serving over about a week.
Getting the most from it. The body takes in only so much magnesium at once, so a steady daily amount does more than an occasional large one. Take with food if your stomach is sensitive, and space it a few hours from calcium, zinc, or certain medications (see the interactions guide above).
Not all forms of magnesium are absorbed equally

CHELAMAX® MAGNESIUM BISGLYCINATE
Most of the dose actually reaches your cells.
*Absorption and performance claims are derived from clinical in vitro Caco-2 bioavailability testing of Chelamax® Magnesium Bisglycinate compared to inorganic magnesium oxide, alongside standardized PSQI (sleep quality) and HAM-A (stress response) clinical scales over 4 weeks of daily use.
“I fully expected this to be just another magnesium, since I'd tried 4 different ones over 2 years and none of them did anything for me. Solace Bay is the first one where I noticed a difference in how I sleep within the first week.”
Continuous sleep architecture analysis across 314 individuals over 28 consecutive evenings taking Solace Bay Chelated Bisglycinate. Verified by independent polysomnography.

High dose on the label means nothing if your digestive system can't absorb it.
Most mass-market supplements use low-grade magnesium that passes straight through your body. Solace Bay uses patented Chelamax® Bisglycinate with 64% absorption – delivering more usable magnesium while staying gentle on the stomach.*

Begin gently. Then feel the shift
The experience builds gradually. Small cellular shifts become part of a more consistent daily baseline over time, rewiring restorative sleep and nervous system equilibrium.
Start with half a serving. Your evenings may begin to feel calmer as your body settles into the routine.
With consistent use, magnesium supports a steadier response to everyday stress, relaxation, and healthy nervous system function.
Long-Term Homeostasis
Fuels cellular energy production. Protects cells from aging. Keeps immunity primed year-round. Strengthens skin, hair & nails. Supports focus and cognitive protection.
Most bisglycinate supplements use generic forms with inconsistent chelation ratios. Chelamax® is a patented magnesium bisglycinate complex with a verified 1:2 mineral-to-amino acid ratio, meaning every molecule is fully chelated - not just partially. This structural integrity is what drives higher bioavailability and gentler absorption, so you get more magnesium into your cells with less digestive burden.
Magnesium bisglycinate is chelated: each magnesium ion is bound to two glycine molecules, so it travels through the gut intact instead of dissociating the way oxide does. That part is settled science, and it's why the form costs more to make.
The specific figure: in SHIME® laboratory digestion testing — a simulated human gut, run by the contract lab ProDigest — Chelamax® released 64% of its magnesium across the test membrane, against 46.7% for another leading bisglycinate at the same dose. That is a lab model, not a human trial, and results in people may differ. We publish it with that caveat attached because it is the data that exists, not because it settles anything. Worth knowing: no magnesium brand on the market has a head-to-head human absorption trial — including the ones printing bigger numbers than ours.
275 mg per serving of three capsules. That is 65% of the Daily Value, and it is printed on its own line in the Supplement Facts panel.
It is worth understanding why we phrase it that way, because this is where most magnesium shopping goes wrong. A label can quote two different numbers: the weight of the whole compound, or the magnesium inside it. Bisglycinate is roughly 11–14% magnesium by weight. L-threonate is about 7%. So a bottle reading "2,000 mg" on the front can deliver 144 mg of actual magnesium on the back. Both numbers are true; only the second one reaches you. Before buying any magnesium, ours included, turn the bottle around and find the line that says Magnesium with a % Daily Value beside it. That is the number that matters.
More common than the category admits. A noticeable share of people take magnesium expecting calm and get the opposite — a busier head, a faster pulse, broken sleep. It is reported most often with glycinate and threonate, the premium forms, rather than the cheap ones, and the suspected culprit is the glycine rather than the magnesium itself.
We are not going to tell you it cannot happen with ours. That is individual, and no brand can honestly promise otherwise. What we can do is make it inexpensive to find out. Start with one capsule instead of three for the first few nights, take it earlier in the evening rather than right at bedtime, and build up from there. If it still is not for you, the 90-day guarantee covers an opened bottle. You should not have to gamble full price to learn how your own body responds.
Magnesium's laxative effect comes mainly from magnesium that is not absorbed. It stays in the gut and draws water with it. That is why oxide and citrate have the reputation they do, and why chelated forms are generally gentler — more of the dose is taken up, so less of it remains behind to cause trouble.
Dose matters as much as form. The NIH sets an upper level of 350 mg per day for magnesium from supplements, and that ceiling exists because of the laxative threshold, not toxicity. Our serving is 275 mg, deliberately beneath it. Some well-known products ask for 400 mg a day at their labeled serving. If your stomach is sensitive, take it with food and begin with a single capsule.
This is chemistry rather than marketing. Fully chelated magnesium bisglycinate is roughly 11–14% magnesium by weight — the remainder is the glycine it is bound to, which is the entire point of the form. Delivering 275 mg of actual magnesium therefore takes close to two grams of raw material. No capsule holds that. A product promising a full dose in one pill is either using a form that carries more magnesium per gram and absorbs less of it, or quoting the compound weight on the front of the bottle.
What we could control is what those three are like to take. They are capsules, not tablets — a smooth shell rather than a compressed, chalky disc — and they are meant to go down together in one mouthful of water, once a day, in the evening. That is not a small detail. The single most common complaint across this entire category is not about results: it is people describing choking on tablets, cutting them into pieces, and quietly abandoning the bottle. A supplement you stop taking does not work.
